Carroll and Ho were the only two players to pass the 10 million chip mark into the official final table of the event

The six finalists who will battle for the lion’s share of the prize pool of the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown and the tournament’s trophy became known Tuesday night. The players will resume play for the final day of the event on May 30 at the brand-new HyperX Esports Arena at Luxor Las Vegas where all televised WPT final tables are taking place.

Heading into the finale as the chip leader is James Carroll with a massive stack and a huge advantage over almost all of the finalists. The player entered the penultimate day of WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown action second in chips with 4.7 million.

After a busy day at the host venue – Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood – on Tuesday, the player traded his second position upon start of action for a top position in the temporary chip counts chart at the day’s closure.

Carroll, a one-time WPT champion, bagged and tagged 18.525 million Tuesday night. The player claimed his first title from the major poker series during its 2013-2014 season when he topped the field of the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star for a first-place prize of $1,256,550.

Carroll is now taking a shot at what could be his second title and a top prize of $715,175. However, despite the relative comfort the chip lead would give him into the final day of the tournament, Carroll has tough and seasoned opponents to bulldoze his way through.

Maria Ho Second in Chips with a Massive Stack

Professional player and poker personality Maria Ho is trailing not too far behind Carroll in the race for the title. Ho is vying for her first WPT title to add to the WPTDeepStacks Johannesburg one she captured this past October.

With her stack of 16.65 million and tons of poker experience, the player is in excellent position to attack the WPT top. Carroll and Ho were the only ones to pass the 10 million mark on the tournament’s penultimate day.

It was Ami Alibay who bagged the third largest stack Tuesday night, but the player is way behind the end-of-the-day chip leader and Ho with 8.175 million chips in possession. Eric Afriat is eyeing his third title from the series with the fourth largest stack into the final table, good for 4.425 million.

Chad Eveslage with 3.35 million and Jerry Wong with 3.225 million round out the official final table of the tournament. Eveslage was the player to lead the final 18 hopefuls into the penultimate day of the prestigious event.

The remaining survivors have up until May 30 to prepare themselves mentally and in any other way for the big finale in Las Vegas.
