BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey has walked away from car wreckage hours after hosting Blackburn’s FA Cup clash with Newcastle.

Humphrey was driving his 4×4 home on the A17 in Lincolnshire before he was involved in the collision in the early hours of Wednesday morning. 

The 40-year-old revealed the extent of the horrific crash on Twitter before reassuring his followers that he escaped with a ‘few bumps and bruises’.

‘Rather eventful journey home from Blackburn last night. Thankfully only a few bumps and bruises,’ Humphrey wrote on Twitter.

‘I just want to call out the Lincolnshire Police, the brilliant local fire service…and the lovely family in East Heckington who got the kettle on. All great, kind folk. Thanks.’

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that they attended the crash in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

She said: ‘We were called out at 1.42am to an RTC involving a single vehicle.

‘Fire crews from Donington attended and they used absorbent granules to soak up and oil spillage and made the vehicle and road safe.’

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson added: ‘At 1.39am on January 16 we received a report that a car had gone into the central reservation on the A17 East Heckington. 

‘The collision involved a Mercedes Benz. Two people received minor injuries.’
